Urban Planning for Kids - West Branch
Thursday, February 223:30—5:00 PMCommunity RoomWest Branch603 Lowell Street, Peabody, MA, 01960
Have you ever wondered how cities and towns are built, or who decides where a school should be placed? Have you ever thought about what you think the best park ever would look like? Children in grades three, four or five are welcome to attend Urban Planning for Kids at the West Branch Library on Thursday, February 22 at 3:30PM. In this interactive after school program, children will design and create their own projects using LEGOs or art supplies with the guidance of Calvin Anton, an Urban Planning and Community Development graduate student at UMASS Boston. All supplies will be provided.
This program is open to children in the 3rd, 4th or 5th grade.
Calvin is a Master’s in Urban Planning and Community Development student at the University of Massachusetts Boston and affordable housing development professional, with a background in political science and biology. He is interested in sustainable community, economic, and real estate development. His motivation for writing a children's book, hosting interactive sessions, and collaborating with local schools and libraries about planning, is to proactively expose children at a young age to the planning profession, how planners are involved within towns, and society more broadly, and to foster a greater understanding of the field.
Registration for this event has now closed.
